“Treatments for cancer remain today what they were before molecular biology […] cut it out, burn it out, or poison it.”

In the UK, It is estimated that there are currently 3 million people living with cancer, rising to 3.5 million by 2025. Cut It, Burn It And Poison is a spiral-bound publication which follows my journey from diagnosis of cancer to remission. Printed with a risograph, the story is told through written journal entries, illustrations, photographs, hospital letters and scanned ephemera. The representation of young adult cancer in mainstream media is often oversimplified and focused on the more sensationalised aspects of the disease. By sharing my experience, I hope to advocate for a more nuanced and truthful representation of illness and encourage the audience to take agency over our narratives.
